Coronavirus Update

March 17, 2020

To Our Faith Church Family,

We have been receiving an increasing number of inquiries from our church family about our plans for Sunday Service(s). As you are likely aware, the recommendations and guidelines from the national and state governing officials and health professionals are being refined daily. Many churches are limiting the frequency and size of in-person meetings to work towards prevention of spreading the disease to the most vulnerable in our communities. The elders are continuing to pray and discuss all of our options in light of the ongoing concerns surrounding the Coronavirus. Our goal is to make a decision about how we should proceed in the near future later as soon as possible. We will send out an updated communication with our plan and recommendations later this week.

In the meantime, we encourage all of you to join us in prayer:
  • Pray for wisdom for our President, his task force team, and all of our governing officials as they try to provide the best leadership they can during this crisis.
  • Pray for the health and wellbeing of our country’s healthcare workers who continue to be on the frontlines of helping fight this disease while also providing care for the regular medical needs of our community.
  • Pray for the Christian churches in our country, including our own church, to have wisdom in how to love our neighbors well and to be people of hope & good news in the midst of fear & bad news.
  • Pray that God would use this current crisis to draw people in our country, and around the world, to himself.
  • Pray for all workers and small business owners who are being impacted financially by the widespread closings and social distancing.
  • Pray for those who are in the higher risk demographics (over 60 years old, pre-existing health issues, etc.)
  • Pray for comfort, peace, and encouragement for anyone who is quarantined or having to limit their personal interactions due to increased risk.
  • Pray for quality family time for those who will be spending more time together due to school closures, social distancing, or self-quarantines.
  • Pray that Pastor John & Sharon can return home quickly and safely from Israel.

We are so thankful that we serve a God who is never taken by surprise, out-ofcontrol, or wringing His hands about what to do. We are thankful that we serve a God who knows our needs before we even express them, and that He is a good
Father who knows how to give good gifts to His children. We know that whatever happens, we can trust & praise God for his goodness & for the joy of salvation. We can say with the prophet Habakkuk:

Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. GOD, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places. (Habakkuk 3:17–19 ESV)

We love you and pray that God would grant strength, comfort, encouragement, and healing at this time. Please look out for one another, check-in with each other, and pray for one another. Praise God for all the communication & technological tools we have that allows us to continue to “bear one another’s burdens,” and encourage one another even during social distancing or limited interactions.

In Jesus,
Faith Church Elder Board
